Aerosmith, J. Geils Touch 'em All At Fenway

Aerosmith opened with a four-minute video history, humorously interweaving their band history and an early rehearsal space near Kenmore Square with Red Sox lore. The band’s first breakup was explained by Joe Perry being traded to the Cardinals, while fellow guitarist Brad Whifield supposedly went to Montreal for the immortal Stan Papi. It turned out the video narrator was Denis Leary, who appeared onscreen to introduce “Aero-bleeping-Smith!” as the curtain rose on a blistering run through “Train Kept A-Rollin’.”...

...Perry also shone on “Sweet Emotion” with a Jimi Hendrix-echoing solo. The old blues chestnut “Baby Please Don’t Go” boasted some of the night’s most visceral music, as Tyler ended up on all fours on the catwalk, emoting away.

Tyler did the first three-quarters of “Dream On” before the band kicked in from the main stage for a rousing finish. The 19-song set ended with a gleefully rowdy “Walk This Way” as Tyler rejoined his mates, and the roar of the crowd signified Aerosmith had given the old ballpark a night to remember.
