Joe Perry Talks New Album and Tour
We told you yesterday that AEROSMITH guitarist JOE PERRY had issued a statement saying his recovery from emergency knee surgery was going well and the band are preparing to hit the recording studio. Well, Perry phoned in last night to provide some more details. First, Perry says the band began rehearsing together last week, quote, "going over some of the new stuff." And he says they'll be entering the studio soon, with producer BRENDAN O'BRIEN -- who has worked with STONE TEMPLE PILOTS, PEARL JAM, THE OFFSPRING, BRUCE SPRINGSTEEN, AUDIOSLAVE, VELVET REVOLVER and AC/DC, just to name a few. This will be the band's first time working with the super-producer, but Perry says they've "wanted to work with him for a long time." Perry also says they'll be taking an old-school approach to this album, recording live in the studio. Because of that, he hopes recording will be finished in time for them to launch a North American tour on June 1st. PREPARING FOR NEW ALBUM “We started rehearsing last week. The band’s been all gathered back together and we’ve been at it, going over some of the new stuff. You know, we’ve got a lot of material that needs just to be gathered.” BRENDAN O'BRIEN TO PRODUCE NEW ALBUM ONLY AS GOOD AS YOUR NEXT RECORD RECORDING LIVE THIS TIME “We’re gonna be doing it more like we used to do the old records which is the band playing live in the studio. That part is really exciting to me. We haven’t really done a real original studio record in a long time.” WANT TO FINISH ALBUM BEFORE JUNE TOUR |
